Saying Bye Bye to my old Logo

When we first opened I want a logo that was cute and chic. Well I had imagined a small boutique in Pink and Black with a chandiler. Very bou-ti-kish, but it wasn't working for the ideas we have coming. Isn't it just too cute though? I'm sad and excitied at the same time. On April 1st we will show case my new Logo!! It's beautiful and it goes with everything we have in store for us. Extremely happy to have worked with such a wonderful designer. She has done from A to Z for me. Michele from Intrigue Design Studio / CrazyforDesign.   has been so kind and patient. I appreciate it all THANK YOU!!! Good Bye to my logo. Out with the old and IN with the new!

Duck Stamp {Small Tutorial}

Happy Saturday!!!

These are one of the changes that we are going thru. We are starting Tutorials. If you like to scrapbook, stamping, baking, party favors, emboss, etc. There will be tutorials on these topics our blog. We decided to start it with a small simple one.

The image below is what we will be doing. It's with our "Lucky Duck" Stamp. I have tons of stamps and the majority are from Stampin Up! as I am a demonstrator as well.

Let's get started!!!

Items you will need:

Green Cardstock
White Cardstock
Black ink pad
Daffodil Delight Stampin' write marker
Zig Marker Baby Pink and Apricot
Stickles Cotton Candy Glitter
Pink ribbon
Corner Punch round
Crop-a-dial
I used my Lucky Duck stamp set.

If you don't have any of these items it's ok. You can substitute it with what you have.

Alright let's get started!

Step 1:
Cut your green cardstock 3 x 3 inches

Step 2:
Cut out the white cardstock 2 x 2 inches

Step3:
Stamp your image then let it dry for 5 mins.

Step 4:
Color the Duck image with the Daffodil Delight Marker

Step 5:
Color the bill and the web feet with the Apricot marker

Step 6:
Color the scarf with Baby Pink marker. Let it all dry for 15 mins.

Step 7:
Glitter the outside of the scarf with Cotton Candy stickles. Let it dry for 20 mins. or so. Normally it doesn't take that long, but with the humidity in Miami at times it does.

Step 8:
Punch the corners out to make then round on both Green Cardstock and Duck image.

Step 9:
You can use your herma, snail adhesive, or glue stick to adhere the Duck image
to the green cardstock.

Step 10:

I have a crop-a-dial to open the hole, but you can use which ever one you have to make the hole, afterwards slide the ribbon threw

YEAH we are all done. LOL! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you made your own I will would love to see it and post on our blog. If you have a tutorial of your own and would like for us to feature it please email me Maylene at Maluboutiques@yahoo.com

Stay tune for our next Tutorial.

St. Patty's Sugar Cookies Recipe

This is a recipe that I used from Food Network. One of my favorite channels. Hope you enjoy it and if make them I would love to see pictures.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar, sifted
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pure almond extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Granulated sugar
  • Royal Icing, recipe follows

Directions

In a bowl, cream together the sugar and butter, then mix in the egg and vanilla and almond extracts. In another bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tarter; mix the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture, then cover and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours, or overnight.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Divide the chilled dough in half and roll it out on a lightly floured pastry cloth to a 1/4-inch thickness. Lightly grease some baking sheets. Cut the dough with a floured cookie cutter; sprinkle with sugar. Transfer the cookies to the prepared sheets and bake for 9 minutes.

Royal Icing:

In a medium bowl, combine egg whites, sugar, and cream of tarter. Beat at low speed with an electric mixer until blended. Increase mixer speed to high, and beat 8 to 10 minutes, or until mixture holds a peak. Cover with a damp cloth when not in use. Separate into bowls and add food coloring, if desired.

*RAW EGG WARNING
Food Network Kitchens suggest caution in consuming raw and lightly-cooked eggs
Due to the slight risk of Salmonella or other food-borne illness. To reduce this risk, we recommend you use only fresh, properly-refrigerated, clean, grade A or AA eggs with intact shells, and avoid contact between the yolks or whites and the shell.
P.S. Our Giveaway will start Monday, March 21, 2011. Also their will be new things starting NEXT week. Stay tune to all of our GOODIES!!

Bird Cages for Spring

Back in December (Dec 4th post) we made some goodie holders out of mini bird cages, the requests for bird cages  small and large for party favors or centerpieces has not stopped .
It must be the new craze especially now in the spring, how wonderful as they are so beautiful and inspiring and come in some many shapes, sizes, and colors.

It feels great being part of such a wonderful growing trend.

Here are the ones we did in December. Can't wait to show you the ones for Easter!

Easter/Spring Line

Our Easter/Spring Line

This year for some reason or another I'm in love with chocolate bunnies and the vintage style Easter. These goodie bags will be great are for any party or school function. They measure 4 1/2 inches tall with an adorable chocolate bunny in the front and a dark chocolate handle. Awe just in love with them. Isn't the bunt cake banner just cute? Why does everything tiny or small look darling? Each square is 1 3/4 inches covered in pom poms. These topper can be used just about anywhere from sweets to foods.

When we came across these Easter images I was just smiling ear to ear. These Easter imagesremind me of sometime in the 70's, when life was less hectic as my mom would say.  We decided to make this design the cupcake toppers and the goodie bag tags.

Hope you like them as much as we do.
Have a good night. They will up in our Etsy store this weekend.

A little about me

Introducing myself

As a child I had the good fortune to grow up in my mom’s Dried Flower store filled with the most beautiful dried flowers from Holland, the US and even New Zealand Hydrangeas, my favorite, all kinds of Freeze Dried flowers, Urns, and Ribbons to die for (I still maintain a large collection that I saved from scraps since I was a kid) when they use to do weddings or parties my mom would ask me to help, at the time I did not realize all the things I was actually learning and someday love to do.  I was also surrounded by my mother’s friends and business partners a group of extremely talented ladies that together all taught me a lot about crafts, designing and LIFE.

It wasn’t until after my son was born when I started scrapbooking that I found out that all the things I use to find a chore to do in my mother’s store when I was a child became the things I enjoy making the most today.

I am also very lucky to have my children, great parents, and to be married to a wonderful man who helps me achieve my dreams, I have my career in the medical field, I owned a scrapbook store for three years were I made lots of friends some have even become like family, but, as wonderful as that was for me, it took a lot of time away from my family, time, that I was not willing to give up cause I would never get that time back. So, when I decided to close it down it was actually a blessing.

Now, I get to have the best of both worlds I have my job, My mom and I have our website and our Etsy store where we get to create great PARTY FAVORS and more, but best of all I don't lose out on spending time with my two beautiful children and wonderful husband.

Maylene
